The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted reports suggesting that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is causing delays in the disbursement of match bonuses and allowances owed to the Super Eagles participating in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Reports had recently emerged that the CBN is delaying payments of match bonuses and allowances due to Jose Peseiro’s men.
However, NFF, in a statement by its General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, on Tuesday, said the Nigeria football powerhouse has not experienced any delays from the CBN.
“It is unfair for anyone to concoct lies against the institution for whatever reasons,” NFF’s statement partly reads.
“We have not experienced any delays or complication of processes at the CBN this time, and we give kudos to them for their diligence and great sense of duty.”
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will face Angola in the quarter-final clash on Friday after beating Cameroon in the round of 16.
