Dr. Sam Amadi, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, has described the leadership of the Labour Party, LP, as awful.
Amadi, a former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, stated this while reacting to the suspension of the party’s national treasurer, Oluchi Opara.
Daily Post reports that the LP on Wednesday, through its National Working Committee, NWC, suspended Opara barely 48 hours after she accused the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, of misappropriating N3.5 billion campaign funds.
Opara said the N3.5 billion was raised from sales of forms and fundraising activities in the build up to the 2023 general elections.
Responding to the allegation, the party’s national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, announced that Opara has been suspended for six months.
Ifoh stated that Opara is under some external influences and only read a press statement written by “our detractors to further tar the image of the party”.
Reacting to the development in a post on his official X account, Amadi said the party lacked leadership.
“Sadly, the LP has been terribly managed. There’s absolute lack of leadership. Yes APC may have tried to undermine it. But its leadership has been awful.”
