The administration of the Federal University Wukari, situated in Wukari local government council of Taraba state, has confirmed that the abductors of the two students from the institution are requesting a ransom of N50 million.

The students who were last week abducted from a nearby restaurant, have been identified as Joshua Sardauna and Obianu Elizabeth.

While Sardauna was confirmed to be from the Economics Department, Elizabeth, as gathered by DAILY POST, was a Microbiology student.

Confirming the kidnapper’s demands, the Head of Information and Protocol Unit at the university, Mrs Ashu Agbu, said the kidnappers who earlier demanded a ransom of N50 million, have reduced their demands to the sum of N12 million.

Ashu, who spoke to our reporter via a telephone, said, “the kidnappers have reached out and from the N50 they had earlier demanded, they have decided to bring it down to N12 million.”

The kidnappers’ intentions, according to Ashu, were to abduct the owner of the eatery where one of the kidnapped students was working but snatched the students when their target was not found.

She said the kidnappers also notified of their intentions to come back for the owner of the eatery.

The school authorities in collaboration with the security operatives are still working around the clock to ensure that the students regain their freedom from the abductors unhurt, Ashu informed.
