Sources at the meeting said the Labour team was infuriated when the Federal Government shored up its earlier offer from N57,000 to N60,000.

Representatives of organised labour have once again walked out during a meeting with the federal government on Tuesday.

According to sources at the meeting, the Labour team was infuriated when the Federal Government shored up its earlier offer from N57,000 to N60,000.

The source said, “We walked out again. Just now. They (the federal government) added 3k. We reduced 3k.”

As of the time the organised labour walked out, the federal government’s offer was N60,000 while labour reduced its demand to N494,000.

Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, both apex unions negotiating the welfare of their members, have threatened a strike by May 31st if parties to the negotiation fail to reach a compromise on the new wage bill.

The meeting was once again stalled owing to the absence of some governors who are members of the tripartite committee set up by the presidency recently.
