On Friday, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command paraded Samuel Balogun, 23, who faces charges of r*pe, cyberstalking, conspiracy, and threats to life.

The State Commandant, Mr. Agboola Sunday, who paraded four persons for various crimes in Ado Ekiti metropolis, said one of the suspects, Balogun, who was arrested at Omisanjana in the state capital, was accused of r*pe, cyberstalking, conspiracy, and threat to life.

The suspects were paraded at the Counter Terrorism Base of the Command, located along Afao Road, Ado Ekiti.

He said Samuel was suspected to be on drugs, drugged a lady (names withheld), and r*ped her repeatedly. He then took a short video of her naked without her consent.

He stated that the suspect had been threatening her with the video and made several attempts to use the video to continue his dastardly acts.

“The victim refused his sexual advances, and he later sent the video to social media channels, which the unit has recorded and downloaded,” he said.

The commandant said other suspects, Ojo Temitope, 39, Alade Haruna, 30, and Abiola Okedele, 31, were also arrested along Oshodi Community in Ado Ekiti.

He said that the suspects were suspected to be Burkina Faso returnees who specialize in trafficking people from Ado Ekiti to Burkina Faso.

He said, “The suspects are always in the habit of defrauding their victims with promises of lucrative work in Burkina Faso and collecting huge amounts of money from them in the name of seeking greener pastures, without the victims knowing they are being taken to another African country.

“Various items recovered from them include a Burkina Faso Army uniform, international passports, bus tickets showing Burkina Faso fare payments, charms, substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, and other hard drinks.”

The state commandant explained that the suspects would be investigated properly before handing some of them over to the relevant agency for further investigation, while the rest would be made available for prosecution.

The commandant, who commended the efforts of the Counter Terrorism Unit, cautioned youths, especially ladies, about toxic relationships with cultists.
