Multinational Joint Task Force ‘Captures Top Boko Haram Logistics Supplier In Borno’

Troops from Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have reportedly apprehended Garba Buda, a high-profile logistics courier for Boko Haram, in Guzamala, Borno State.

Buda, 30, was on the MNJTF's wanted list for his role in supplying logistics to the terrorist group, Chief Military Information Officer, HQ MNJTF N'djamena, Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, said in a statement on Friday.

However, following intense surveillance and human intelligence efforts, he was apprehended in Monguno town during a successful intelligence operation, Osoba explained.

"Garba Buda's arrest deals a significant blow to Boko Haram's operations in the Lake Chad region. He facilitated supply movements between Monguno and Southern Tumbus," the statement said.

This capture marks a significant milestone in the fight against terrorism in the region.

According to the statement, some of the items recovered from the suspect include a lighter, pocket mirror, comb, cap, and wristwatch.

He is currently in custody, undergoing investigation, the statement added.

In a related development, MNJTF troops said it carried out a raid on a Boko Haram/ISWAP enclave in Kukawa Local Government Area in Borno State, disrupting the terrorists’ operations in the area.

The military, however, added that the terrorists fled upon the troops’ arrival, leaving behind their logistics, which were subsequently destroyed.

“These successful operations represent a significant step forward in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region, demonstrating the commitment of security forces to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure the safety of the local population,” he added.
