Three Police officers, Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, who were dismissed by the Kwara State Police Command, over the killing of a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, have been charged to court.
A statement released by the command's spokesperson, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, today October 18, says the dismissed officers face charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Ishola.
She said they have been remanded in prison custody pending further court proceedings.
The deceased who was an ND2 student of Electrical/Electronics Engineering at the institution was allegedly shot dead by the police during a fuel hike protest in the Fate area of Ilorin on September 4, 2024.
The incident generated widespread condemnation which led to the transfer of the case to the police headquarters in Abuja by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
