A 25-year-old midwife has accused her boyfriend, Egu Shadrach Kingsley, a peri-operative nurse at Star Care Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos State, of hacking her Facebook account and sharing her n*de videos online.
The victim, whose identity is being protected for safety reasons, told SaharaReporters that the incident occurred on November 29, 2024.
According to her, Egu allegedly gained unauthorised access to her Facebook account, changed her password, and began impersonating her by reading her private messages and chatting with her friends.
On the day of the incident, Egu allegedly sent the victim a threatening message, warning that he would “make her run out of Lagos State.”
Shortly afterward, her n*de videos appeared on her Facebook page. She stated that people began calling her to inform her that they had seen the videos posted on her account.
She described the ordeal as traumatising and a breach of her dignity and trust.
She said that at work, she is confused and unable to focus, making it difficult to carry out her tasks properly.
She has called out for justice and hinted at plans to pursue legal action against Egu for the alleged invasion of privacy, defamation, and emotional distress caused by his actions.
Speaking to SaharaReporters about how they met, she said, "I met this guy in school. Before then, I was living a peaceful and fulfilling life as a single woman, not involved in any form of relationship. I was perfectly content on my own.
"When I got admission to school, I met this guy, and we started a relationship during our PTS days. Since then, the relationship has been toxic. It’s been over five years of a toxic and abusive relationship."
According to her, "On the 29th of November, the most recent incident occurred. He has had unauthorised access to my Facebook account, where he reads my messages and chats with friends pretending to be me. That day, he sent me a threatening message, saying he would make me run out of Lagos.
"A few minutes later, I received a call informing me that a naked video of me had been posted online. I was shocked and tried to log into my account but found that he had changed the password. The video was posted on my account and stayed up for 24 hours."
She said, "I received calls from friends and family, and over 100 people saw the video. When I confronted him, he denied it, though his father later admitted his son was responsible. His father pleaded for forgiveness, but I questioned if he would ask for forgiveness if his daughter was in my situation."
She said that since then, the incident has deeply affected her, and she feels helpless and finds it hard to sleep.
She told SaharaReporters that her father, matron, sponsor (her uncle), and aunt have been supportive, helping her through this hard period.
"I’ve not yet reported this to the police, but I received a letter yesterday instructing me to take the matter to the police station today. This was facilitated by the Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment Agency.
"Friends who trust me have been encouraging me, reminding me that this is not the end of my life and that I can overcome it. Their support has been a source of strength."
"I’m here to speak up because I want justice. I want him to understand that the voice he thought was silenced will now speak loudly for help and justice."
Meanwhile, in a voice recording obtained by SaharaReporters, Egu's father admitted that his son was the one who posted the n*de video on the victim's Facebook page.
Egu father said, "I talked to him that he should call you. That he should do what he's supposed to do to you.
"Because since I've had this. I think I told him to remove it from that platform. And then he now told me that the moment he posted it there, he just blocked off for the the amount, the account, I mean, he just pull everything so that you will not be able to withdraw it. No. Even you that can be able to withdraw it.
"So I was bitter. I said look at what you did. And this is a woman, why will you do this? Even though you do annoyed, This is the worst thing you have done and it is not good.
"Because number one, God himself is not happy. Humanity will not be happy. As a child of God, you don't need to do like this.
"I've seen that. He is not happy now that he has allowed himself to be used by the devil."
When SaharaReporters contacted Egu Shadrach Kingsley, he said he was busy and could not speak at the moment.
