Nasarawa Teachers’ Recruitment Slots Being Sold For N500,000 – N700,000 – Investigation Uncovers

The chairman of the investigative panel, Silas Dachor, disclosed these findings.

It has been revealed that slots for Nasarawa teachers recruitment were allegedly sold for amounts ranging from N500,000 to N700,000.

This is according to an investigative committee report that uncovered massive irregularities in the recent recruitment of teachers in Nasarawa State.

The chairman of the investigative panel, Silas Dachor, disclosed these findings while presenting the committee’s report to Governor Abdullahi Sule.

According to the report, the Teachers’ Service Commission, TSC, recruited 3,277 teachers without obtaining the necessary approval from the governor, a move the committee described as a “gross act of insubordination.”

“There are hundreds of others in possession of appointment letters who are yet to be posted,” Dachor stated. “This, to say the least, amounts to a great disservice to the government and people of Nasarawa State.”

The report further revealed that the recruitment process failed to address the actual needs of the education sector and lacked fairness in distribution across the state’s local government areas.

The committee found no evidence that merit was considered in the selection process, with appointments allegedly granted selectively while more qualified candidates were sidelined.

A particularly damning revelation was the existence of an Access Bank account where applicants were reportedly instructed to deposit bribes of between N500,000 and N700,000 as a form of “appreciation” in exchange for appointment letters.
