Heavy Military Presence In Abuja Ahead Of Tinubu’s Second Anniversary

A heightened military presence has been observed in various parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second anniversary celebrations scheduled for May 29, 2025.

According to Daily Post, it was observed that military personnel and armoured vehicles were stationed at the popular Berger Bridge between Wuse Zone 6 and Jabi Abuja on Wednesday morning.

The development comes as President Tinubu, who was inaugurated on May 29th, 2023, marks his second anniversary in the face of economic hardship.

Recall that Tinubu marked his first-year anniversary on a low-key; however, it is unclear if this year’s anniversary will follow the same pattern.

Earlier, the Daily Post exclusively reported that economists rated Tinubu low on declining cost of living for the majority of Nigerians.

Meanwhile, economists said they are beginning to see improvement in the foreign exchange market, the country’s net external reserves, and revenue.

President Tinubu administration heralded two key policies, fuel subsidy removal and Naira floating which resulted in spiral inflation and high cost of goods and services, that had lagged in the past 23 months.

Speaking on Tuesday on the state of the country’s economy under Tinubu, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia North) agreed that Nigerians are still suffering.

He, however, said in the next two to three years, Nigerians would start seeing the positive impact of Tinubu’s policies trickling down.

“People are still suffering. Yes, I agree to that, but it has started trickling in on the macroeconomic level, which is the upper level, not the lower. I am hoping that in the next two to three years the policy of Mr. President will trickle down and Nigerians will appreciate what Mr. President is doing.

“I’m not a sycophant. Since 1960, this is the first president (Tinubu) who stopped the subsidy and the first who merged the dollar. That’s why we are suffering; Nigerians are not used to working hard. We are used to getting cheap money,” he said.

The sub-national level that 26 governors in Nigeria, including Delta and Akwa Ibom States, would also mark the second anniversary.
