Renowned Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has paid a visit her former kindergarten teacher, Mr. Ralph Idoko.
The meeting happened at the teacher's residence in Nsukka, Enugu State.
A video shared online showed the emotional reunion between the literary icon and her elderly teacher. Despite his age, Mr. Idoko instantly recognised Chimamanda and was visibly happy to see her again.
During the visit, Chimamanda expressed deep gratitude to her former teacher, thanking him for the role he played in her early development. She noted that many teachers may never realise how much impact they have on a child’s life — even from such a young age.
“He taught me in kindergarten, but the impact has lasted a lifetime,” she said.
Chimamanda’s gesture has since been described as a beautiful reminder of the lasting influence educators can have on their students, and the importance of showing appreciation to those who helped shape our early beginnings.
