The Middle Belt Forum has reacted to the demise of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the group, Buhari's damage to Nigeria’s economy during his two terms as President can't be easily forgotten.
President of the Forum, Dr Bitrus Pogu stated this in an interview on Monday.
Pogu, however, said the death of the elder statesman, who according to him is respected by many Nigerians “is certainly lamentable”.
He said, “The demise of a leader respected by many is certainly lamentable.
“However, the damage to our economy and his comments on insecurity cannot be forgotten easily. May his soul rest in peace.”
The former President died in London, United Kingdom, on Sunday where he was receiving treatment for a yet-to-be disclosed illness.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima and other government officials have arrived London to accompany his remains back to Nigeria.
The remains are expected to be laid to rest on Monday in Daura, the hometown of the former President.
