Yakubu Wudil, the Nigerian academic, has condemned President Tinubu’s decision to rename the University of Maiduguri in honor of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
While speaking at the extended version of the Federal Executive Council held in Buhari's honor yesterday July 17, President Tinubu announced that University situated in Borno state has been renamed after late Buhari.
Reacting to the post, Wiudil said he understands that the decision was done in good faith but he would have preferred that the Federal University of Transportation Daura was the one chosen instead of UNIMAID.
He argued that institutions like UNIMAID have their names and identity as a badge of honor and should not be tampered with at all.
