Five People K!lled, Houses Razed As Suspected Herdsmen Stage Fresh Attack In Plateau

Suspected herdsmen have attacked Tim village in Chakfem District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, k!lling five people and setting fire to 10 thatched houses.

The attack which occurred on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2025 left several others injured. 

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, preliminary findings revealed that the assault may have been a reprisal linked to allegations of cattle rustling in the area. 

The corpses of the victims have since been buried in line with local customs, while the injured are receiving treatment in hospital.

Residents said the late response of security operatives was due to the difficult terrain, poor network coverage, and long distance of the community. 

Although calm has returned to the area, tension remains high as villagers fear further reprisals if the underlying grievances are not addressed.
