At just 19, Olubari emerged as the youngest candidate in the Rivers State Local Government election.
A 19-year-old candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won election as a councillor in Rivers State.
Miss Aaue Samuel Olubari won during the recently concluded Rivers State Local Government elections conducted on Saturday, August 30, 2025, across 6,866 polling units in 319 wards to elect local government chairpersons and councilors.
The polls were held six months after the Supreme Court nullified the council elections conducted on October 5, 2024.
Announcing the results, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) stated that the APC won 20 out of 23 local government areas, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victories in Obio/Akpor, Ogba/Egbema/Ndon, and Port Harcourt City.
APC candidates also won in Ahoada East, Asari Toru, Ikwerre, Bonny, Degema, Eleme, Etche, Gokana, and Khana LGAs.
Miss Olubari contested for the councillorship of Bangha Ward 7 in Khana LGA.
She was formally introduced to party leaders and stakeholders days before the election by the APC Khana Chairman, Hon. Barile Ebenezer, during a ward-to-ward sensitization campaign.

The Rivers election saw participation from multiple political parties, including APC, PDP, Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Zenith Party, Accord, African Action Congress, Action People’s Party (APP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Action Alliance, Youth Party, Young Progressive Party, Action Democratic, New Nigerian People’s Party, National Rescue Movement, and Allied People’s Party.
