Outrage In Kwande As Angry Youths Burn Monarch’s Home And Office In Benue

On Wednesday, enraged youths in Turan stormed and set fire to the residence and office of the Mue Ter Ichongo, His Royal Highness Simon Baver, in retaliation for the deadly incident that occurred a day earlier in Jato-Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to eyewitness accounts, a mob stormed the two locations, destroying valuables before setting them on fire.

The attackers dispersed afterwards, leaving behind serious damage.

Security operatives were later deployed to restore order in the community. No casualties were immediately recorded from the burning of the monarch’s properties.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing into both the Jato-Aka violence and the subsequent destruction in Turan.

Meanwhile, community leaders have called for restraint and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies to prevent further escalation.
