A 22-year-old accused cultist named Favour Izunna, also known as "Njoku," has been detained by the Anambra State Police Command on suspicion of murder and kidnapping in the Obosi community, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, and surrounding areas.
The suspect was detained by members of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit, Enugwu Ukwu, during a raid on a criminal hideout in Obosi, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command.
Among the things found during the raid, according to Ikenga, were one pump-action gun, five live cartridges, one locally produced Beretta handgun, and seven rounds of 7.5mm live ammunition.
He said that the suspect is an executioner who terrorizes Obosi and its surroundings as a member of the Vikings Confraternity, a notorious cult.
The announcement stated, "The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in ongoing investigations following the confession of a notorious suspect arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit, Enugwu Ukwu, on April 30, 2026."
The suspect, Favour Izunna, also known as Njoku, is a 22-year-old member of the Vikings Confraternity, a notorious cult group that terrorizes Obosi and its surroundings by using him as an executioner.
One pump-action gun, five live cartridges, a locally manufactured Beretta handgun, and seven rounds of 7.5mm live ammunition were later discovered by police officers from a criminal hideaway in Obosi with operational assistance from the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.
The guy also admitted to the horrific killing of roughly five people in Obosi during questioning.
But he could only vividly remember three victims: Izuchukwu Obi (male), Udechukwu Izuchukwu (male), and Somtochukwu Alfred (man).
"He also revealed the involvement of some sponsors who allegedly hired him to carry out the murders in the community."
Additionally, he claims that the suspect acknowledged taking part in many kidnapping operations in Anambra State, involving victims named Emeka Chukwuka (a male) and Chinelo Onyeka (a girl).
In order to do this, CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State Command, has stepped up efforts to apprehend additional gang members and the suspected sponsors who are still at large.
