Nigerian pastor Tobi Adegboyega has come under fire from internet celebrity Solomon Buchi for remarks that seemed to cast doubt on Christians' need to fear hell and urged them to concentrate on leading prosperous lifestyles.

In response, Buchi called Adegboyega a "false prophet," claiming that the pastor's viewpoint went against what he believed to be fundamental Christian beliefs about holiness, obedience to God, and hell.

But Buchi made it clear that he does not think people should be coerced into serving God by their fear of hell.

He insisted that because hell is mentioned frequently in the Bible, he believes it to be real regardless of how the idea is presented.

The internet celebrity also objected to what he saw as a focus on wealth and having fun without enough consideration for God, morality, and obedience.

Buchi claims that promoting financial success without emphasizing a person's relationship with God runs the risk of giving a false impression of what it means to be a Christian.

He also refuted Adegboyega's seeming claim that hell could not be verified because no one had died, traveled there, and returned to offer direct proof.

Buchi questioned the logic of such reasoning, contending that comparable skepticism regarding the existence of Jesus Christ would result from applying the same criterion to other issues of Christian faith.

Online discussions concerning the role of hellfire in Christian preaching and whether modern religious leaders should place more emphasis on faith, righteousness, and obedience or on dread of retribution, prosperity, and individual achievement have been triggered by this disagreement.

While some Christians still believe that the concept of damnation is a crucial component of biblical teaching, others are becoming more skeptical of the use of messages based on fear in religious discourse.

As a result, the conversation between Buchi and Adegboyega has contributed to a larger discussion within Christian communities regarding how biblical teachings ought to be conveyed in a time when millions of people may access sermons, viewpoints, and theological disputes thanks to social media.
