Zamfara Guber Candidate Promises to Quit if Security Crisis Persists

Kabiru Garba Marafa, the Nigeria Democratic Congress's choice for Zamfara governor, has promised to step down if he doesn't solve at least three-quarters of the state's security crisis within two years of taking office.

The former senator made the bold pledge Wednesday while speaking to reporters in Gusau.

Marafa said his drive to run stems from wanting to restore peace in Zamfara, which has been ravaged by b@nditry, kidn@pping and other crime.

He believes his experience in state politics gives him the knowledge and ability to tackle the challenges that have plagued the region.

The candidate said responsibility for security is shared between the state and federal government.

His administration would focus on what falls within state control while expecting the centre to handle federal matters.

He expressed confidence he knows exactly what steps to take if elected, though he said specific security strategies involve sensitive details that cannot be made public.

Marafa's pledge was also shared on social media and online platforms after his Wednesday media session in Gusau.
