Woman Found Dead in Calabar Hotel as Police Launch Search for Mystery Guest

The Cross River State Police Command has released the photograph of a woman found d£ad in a hotel along Clifford Lane, Calabar South as it seeks public help to identify her and find the man who checked in with her.

The woman was found unresponsive in Room 2 earlier this month after she reportedly stayed at the hotel with an unidentified male guest whose location is unknown.

Police said the man was not properly registered when they checked in.

According to the Command, early investigations showed the woman stayed at the hotel with the male guest and work is ongoing to find him and establish what led to her d£ath.

The incident was first reported on September 8 after a receptionist noticed the room door was open and found the woman inside.

Police investigators who went to the scene saw apparent marks of vi%lence on her face and neck.

She was taken to General Hospital, Calabar where she was confirmed d£ad and her body placed at the mortuary.

The receptionist on duty remains in police custody and is helping investigators with information about how the guests checked in and what happened before the woman was found.

But the Police Command stressed that his detention should not be seen as guilt, adding that any further action will depend on available evidence and the law.

The Police Commissioner directed that the investigation be done professionally and fairly to identify the d£ceased, determine the circumstances around her d£ath, find the male guest and establish the roles, if any, of anyone connected to the incident.

Police urged anyone who recognizes the woman or has information to help identify her, find her family or locate the male guest to contact the Police Control Room or visit the nearest police station.
