Kebbi Gov Orders Workers To Resume By 8am, Warns Latecomers

The Kebbi State Government has directed civil servants across the state to strictly keep to official working hours of 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and warned against lateness and absenteeism.

The order came in a circular dated September 23, 2026, from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, and was made available to our correspondent on Wednesday.

Head of the Civil Service, Malami Shekare, said the move followed observations that some workers had developed the habit of coming late or staying away from their duty posts without telling anyone or getting approval.

He said the working hours are provided for under Chapter 13, Section 4, Sub-section 140122 of the Public Service Rules, 2021 Edition, and told workers to be on time at their posts.

He added that any absence or lateness must be reported to and approved by the appropriate authority.

Heads of ministries, departments and agencies were told to bring the circular to the notice of their staff and make sure it is obeyed.

The circular was addressed to the Chief of Staff, Government House, the Director of the Deputy Governor's Office, the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, permanent secretaries and heads of commissions, boards and parastatals across the state.
