The family of Mobile Police officer Abdulrahman Auwal is calling on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate how he was killed on Kwi-Beco Road in Plateau State.
The road lies between Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas.
Auwal was returning from a nearby community where he had gone to buy food when he was attacked.
He was buried at the Zaria Cemetery in Jos last Saturday.
His mother, Larai Musa, says she has accepted that her son is gone, but she wants to know what really happened.
She says he was reportedly cut with a sharp object while riding on a motorcycle with an okada rider.
Her question is simple.
Why did the rider survive when her son did not?
She also wants to know who reported the killing and where the rider took her son.
She believes the rider may be able to explain who stopped them and why only her son was attacked.
The family is also hurt that no police officers or colleagues visited them to offer condolences four days after the incident.
They feel this is unfair, given that he served the country.
At the time of this report, the police had not released any statement about his death.
