A Nigerian man, Bosun Osagie, has been jailed for two years and three months in the United Kingdom.
He hacked a woman's social media accounts and used her pictures to create fake online profiles that advertised her as a sex worker.
He also sold the images online and then tried to blackmail her.
Osagie, 25, of Bexley, London, pleaded guilty to computer hacking and blackmail.
He was also given a 10 year restraining order that bars him from contacting the victim.
Merseyside Police say the case came to light in February 2023, when the woman reported that her social media accounts had been hacked and her pictures were being used without permission.
Investigators found fake profiles built with her photos.
They were used to find clients for sexual services, and her images were being sold.
Osagie was arrested and charged.
He admitted the offences and was sentenced on Monday, October 12.
Detective Sergeant Darren Devonport said the crime caused the victim deep distress.
He said she did the right thing by reporting it.
Police hope Osagie will think about the harm he caused while he is in jail.
