Popular New York jeweler to the stars and father-of-four, run down and killed in front of his home 'in dispute over a parking space'
Popular New York jeweler whose clients included some of entertainment's biggest stars, Aron Aranbayev, has been run down in front of his home following an argument.
The 40-year old was killed while being dropped off at his house in Queens on Sunday around 11pm after attending a family member's funeral.
Aranbayev was a co-owner of Rafaello & Co, a Manhattan store popular among celebrities looking for diamond-encrusted opulence such as boxer Floyd Maywheather, Jay-Z, P.Diddy, Khloe Kardashian, DJ Khaled, Alicia Keys, Rick Ross and many more.
The driver of a dark Dodge Magnum is said to have run the jeweler down after Aranbayev yelled at him to stop driving so fast on his street. Those who knew him say that the argument that led to his death may have started over a parking spot.
The father-of-four who moved to the US from Soviet Uzbekistan in 1985, died Monday after being taken to the hospital with severe head trauma from hitting the pavement.
An NYPD spokesman says the case is being treated as a homicide, but could not comment about the relationship between a suspected driver and his victim.
His Manhattan store was closed on Tuesday and many jewelers from New York's Diamond District attended the funeral. Relatives and friends of Aranbayev also gathered at Bukharian Jewish Community in Queens on Tuesday to pay respects to the artisan.
'Love u bro my angel my heart tell grandma and grandpa we all say hello your in great hands now. I will make you proud I promise E', his cousin and business partner Gabriel Jacobs posted on Instagram.
Tributes from famous customers poured in for Aranbayev via social media. 'Now you've moved on to Greater place and May u 4eva Rest in Paradise my Goodfriend. #Eric #RafaelloJewelers Family', rapper Rick Ross posted.
