The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Imo State, Prof. Francis Chukwuemeka Ezeonu, has said over half a million Permanent Voters Cards  (PVCs) are yet to be collected in Imo state as at October 29, 2018.

Ezeonu told Daily Trust in Owerri on Wednesday that this represented the total number of PVCs uncollected since 2011 when the continuous registration exercise began.

According to him, out of the 380,000 PVCs from the 2011 and 2014 registrants released to the commission in April 2017, about 343,742 are yet to be collected, leaving a paltry 36,258 so far collected.

According to him, out of the 72,237 cards received in respect of those who registered in 2017, about 49,252 are yet to be collected.

Ezeonu said “Just recently, we received 110,627 PVCs for people who registered in the first quarter of 2018; only a paltry 3,096 have been collected in the last three weeks, leaving us with a balance of 107,531 PVCs uncollected.”

He urged voters to go to where they registered for their temporary TVCs to collect their PVCs.

He said that no PVC will be collected by proxy, adding that PVCs for those that registered between April and August 2018 will be released before the end of the year.
