President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law, the bill to make June 12 Democracy Day.
Last year, the president had declared June 12 as Democracy Day in honour of MKO Abiola, presumed winner of the 1993 presidential election.
The Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, briefed State House correspondents after signing ceremony.
The new law, according to him, allows public holiday to be declared on June 12 every year while May 29th will no longer be public holiday.
May 29th will only be handing over date and working day.
