Grammy-nominated artiste Burna Boy aka African Giant has lost out in two categories at the just- concluded 40th Brits 2020 award held 18th, February.
He lost the Brits International Male Award to American rapper, Tyler, The Creator; other nominees in the category include: Bruce Springsteen, Burna Boy,Dermot Kennedy and Post Malone.
Burna Boy also got his second nomination in the ‘Song of the Year’ category after featuring on Dave’s hit single Location, but the pair lost the award to Lewis Calpaldi’s Someone You Loved.
Following his recent controversial tweets which he later deleted on his social media handles, on becoming a success without anyone paving a way for him. Some of his fans expressed mixed feelings saying that it was clear the singer had not recovered from the loss of the just concluded Grammy award were he lost to Beninese music legend, Angelique Kidjo.
He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013). In 2017, Burna Boy signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally. His third studio album Outside (2018) marked his major-label debut.
In 2019, he won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards, and was announced as Apple Music’s Up Next artist. His fourth studio album African Giant was released in July 2019; it won Album of the Year at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards.
