Irene transformed the life of a street beggar
A kind-hearted Nigerian woman, Irene Ubani, has shared an inspiring story of her life after transforming the life of a street beggar identified as Abolude Ayodeji.
Irene Ubani said the boy, Deji, used to beg for alms at her bus stop alongside other teenagers like him.
After seeing him on different occasions, she was moved to help him with the collaboration of the commissioner of education in Lagos state, Folashade Adefisayo.
Irene said the boy is not only better but now off the street. She also appreciated her friends who supported her and all the Lagos state staff at the Ministry of Education, who welcomed him.
Taking to her Linkedin page, she wrote:
Abolude Ayodeji, it's such a privilege to guide you through this thing called life. I have watched you grow in wisdom and strength.
Nigeria isn't where we want it to be just yet, but it would be irresponsible to hand the task of loving your neighbour and lending a helping hand to those in need also to the federal government.
Deji "used" to ask for alms at my busstop alongside other teenagers. After long weeks of ( tears, almost giving up, asking the question " who sent you Irene", ) I paid a visit to the Commissioner of Education in Lagos State Folasade Adefisayo ( very gracious woman ) as I really wanted to reintegrate him back in school.
He is off the street and back in school now. I particularly thank all my amazing friends who encouraged me through this entire process as well as #lagosstate staff in the education system who welcomed him with open arms.
I am proud of you.
To my mother, sister and friend Oprah Winfrey Thank you for leading me right.
