According to a report by SaharaReporters, some gunmen suspected to be bandits have invaded a herders’ settlement and shot dead a 30-year-old man, Abdulmumin Jagaba, near Sabon-Gari village in Kwali Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
A resident of the community said the incident happened around 11pm on Monday, when the gunmen invaded the settlement and opened fire on the Jagaba.
He said the gunmen shot Jagaba in the forehead and fled immediately.
He added that vigilantes in Gada-Biyu were alerted and they mobilised to the scene but the assailants had already left.
The gunmen came, shot the young man and left without taking away anything or abducting anybody,” he said.
He said the Kwali Divisional Police Officer, SP Tony Obiano, alongside three other policemen and the Ardo of Fulani in Kwali, as well as some vigilantes visited the scene where the DPO took statements before the remains of the deceased were buried.
The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, had yet to answer her calls or reply a text message sent to her phone to confirm the incident as of the time of filling this report.
