Nigerian, 8 Students Arrested As Police Bust Online Drug Trafficking Racket In India

A Nigerian national alongside eight business management students have been apprehended by the Sanjay Nagar and JC Nagar police in Bengaluru after an online drug racket was busted.

The police recovered 60 grams of weed oil, 1.1 kgs of Marijuana,127 grams of MDMA,7.8 grams of cocaine, laptops and three mobile phones from the suspects during the raid conducted on Tuesday, July 6.

Police said JC Nagar and Sanjaynagar inspectors received a credible information that a group of students are seen waiting near Nissan garage under Sanjaynagar police station limits.

Acting on the tip off, a team led by ACP, JC Nagar Sub-Division, Smt Reena Suvarna and crime staff of both the police station raided the bus stop and caught the students red handed as they were waiting for their customers to deliver the drugs.

The accused confessed that they source the drugs from dark web and wickr, an instant messenger app and they would pay the money online.

Police said the accused persons are studying management courses in reputed colleges and are in their early 20s.

The accused revealed the name of their source, who turned out to be Pradeep kumar Steve, 24, an employee of a private transport company.

The team swung into action and arrested Pradeep who led to the arrest of 31-year-old Nigerian national identified as Nwanya Francis.

During interrogation Nwanya told the police that he had come to Bengaluru in 2018 on student visa but never enrolled in any college. He stayed in the city to peddle drugs sourcing the Narcotics from his contacts.

The police have booked the accused under NDPS Act and further investigating to track down the other peddlers in the racket.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Kamal Pant appreciated Addl CP East, S Murugan DCP North, Dharmendra Kumar Meena, ACP,JC Nagar, Sub-Division, Smt Reena Suvarna who headed the whole operation.
