According to a report by Metro UK, two walkers were airlifted to hospital after being hit by lightning on the summit of Snowdon.
One of the women only received minor injuries but the other was seriously hurt during yesterday afternoon’s freak storm.
Rescuers said one of the hikers had blood running down one side of her face and and ‘falling in and out of consciousness’ when they arrived at the scene.
The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were called to the summit of Yr Wyddfa and called for backup when they saw what had happened.
A Coast Guard rescue helicopter was rushed over and more rescuers were sent by foot and on the railway running up the mountain.
Extreme weather conditions were reported in various locations across the region.
Locals have reported seeing menacing looking funnel clouds, which resemble tornados, as well as heavy rain and giant hailstones.
