Election Violence: Bayelsa State Speaker's House Bombed, Deputy Governor's Brother Attacked With Machete

Violence, maiming and fear has returned to Bayelsa state after the house of the speaker was bombed a day to the supplementary election in the state.

 
The home of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Benson Friday Konbowei in Korkosei, was bombed at about 4:00am Friday, January 8, reports PM News.
 
The ugly incident is coming just a day to the supplementary governorship election in Southern Ijaw Local Government of Bayelsa State.
 
However, it is not yet clear if lives were lost and those responsible for the act.
 
This is coming after the brother of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Beinmopre Jonah, escaped death by the whiskers as thugs suspected to be working for the leading opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, (APC) invaded his residence in Ekeki, Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state, leaving him unconscious suffering severe machete cuts.
 
It was gathered that suspected party thugs stormed the area, brandishing weapons such as machetes and other dangerous weapons before heading straight for his residence as they threatened to shoot and kill anyone that tries to stop them.
 
According to eyewitness account, “the invaders overpowered his guard, broke the security lock of the gate and headed straight to the living room, where he was with members of his family and attacked him.”
