The PUNCH reports that the Nasarawa State Police Command says it has arrested six suspected internet fraudsters who had been defrauding residents of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Ramhan Nansel made the disclosure in a press statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Lafia.
He explained that the suspects rented a four bedroom apartment at G.R.A, Keffi where they engaged in cyber crime and internet fraud until the police got information about their nefarious activities which led to their arrest.
“Based on credible and duly processed intelligence, Police personnel attached to Keffi Area Command got information about six suspected fraudsters. We raided their hide out and we were able to recover twenty two (22) laptop computers, computer mouse, laptop chargers and extension boxes”, he stated.
The PPRO also disclosed that a Honda CRV vehicle with registration number Abuja YAB 458 DC which was stolen from Ajaokuta, Kogi State and brought to Nasarawa State by a suspect criminal had been recovered by gallant officers of the command.
He explained that the stolen vehicle was intercepted by police officers who mounted a stop and search point at Gidan Kwano along Nasarawa-Loko Road in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
“The stolen vehicle was intercepted and recovered by the Police and the suspect arrested has confessed to the crime.
“The Commissioner of Police, AIG Bola Longe has directed that the suspects should be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” Nansel added.
