Daily Post reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with Southeast leaders in Imo state.
The meeting was held at a Town Hall in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Buhari’s parley with Igbo leaders is coming at the backdrop of agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The meeting was disclosed by one of Buhari’s Media Aides, Tolu Ogunlesi via his Facebook page.
“The President is now participating in a Town Hall Meeting with South-East Leaders, having gone round Owerri to commission a series of infrastructure projects by Governor Hope Uzodinma,” Ogunlesi wrote.
IPOB-led by Nnamdi Kanu had frowned at Buhari’s visit to Imo State.
The pro-Biafra group had ordered a sit-at-home in protest against Buhari’s visit to the state.
Kanu, prior to his arrest, had severally accused Buhari of marginalizing the Southeast.
Against this backdrop, Kanu began agitation for the actualization of Biafra.
