In what will come across as a really startling development, a 36-year old suspected armed robber, Patrick Anthony, has been nabbed with bullets.
The man was arrested after he was found with 60 AK-47 bullets hidden inside a pair of canvas shoes inside a bag while travelling in a commercial vehicle in Delta State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as disclosed by the Delta State Police Command on Monday, 25th October, 2021.
It stated that the suspect, Anthony, was arrested by the operatives of the Dragon Patrol Team of the State Police Command while on stop-and-search duty along Warri-Sapele Road by Mercy City, Effurun, when they flagged down a commercial bus heading from Warri to Sapele.
When the vehicle and the occupants were searched, Anthony was found with 60 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition neatly concealed inside a pair of canvas shoes, which belonged to him inside his bag. He was promptly arrested.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, disclosed that the suspected armed robber had given useful information to the Police about how he was able to get the 60 bullets.
He stated the suspect is currently under investigation after which he will be prosecuted in the Court of law for the alleged offence under the criminal code.
Part of the statement read: “Operatives of the Dragon Patrol Team of the State Police Command, while on stop-and-search duty along Warri-Sapele road by Mercy City Effurun, flagged down one Toyota Picnic commercial vehicle heading from Warri to Sapele”.
“Upon search of the vehicle and occupants, 60 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition neatly concealed inside a pair of canvas shoes in a bag were recovered from one of the passengers named Patrick Anthony, aged 36 years.”
“He has given useful information to the police about his activities and more investigations are ongoing after which he will be prosecuted in the Court of law.”
