Man Remanded Over N1.2m Fraud, Threat To Life Of Victim

The defendant was charged before an Osogbo Magistrates’ court over five-count charges bordering on fraud, stealing and threatening of life.

An Osogbo Magistrates’ court has remanded a 26-year-old man, Imini Pius for defrauding one Ifeanyi Olijo Kingsley of N1.2 million and threatening his life.

The defendant was charged with over five-count charges bordering on fraud, stealing and threatening of life.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused and others at large committed the offence sometime in May 2021 in Osogbo, Osun State.

Abiodun told the court that Pius and others who are at large fraudulently obtained the said amount under the pretence of purchasing a Toyota Camry L.E. car for him and thereafter threatened to kill him and his family members.

The prosecutor further alleged that the offences committed are contrary to and punishable under sections 422, 516, 86 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate A. A Adeyeba ordered the remand of the accused to Ilesa prison and adjourned the case to 26th of November, 2021.
