The singer, who is currently working on a mixtape titled, ‘Adapted’, also noted that being an independent artiste without the support of a record label was quite challenging.

Ayodeji Akinde, a budding singer, aka Aayo, has said that moving to the United States of America made him hungrier for success in his music career.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, the singer moved to the US at the age of 19 said, “Moving to the US made me more hungry for success. I see a lot of successful artists out here, and that has taught me to be focused and get better at my craft. Los Angeles is regarded as the entertainment capital of the world (viz Hollywood). Being in the city gives me the confidence that I can make very good movies and music videos.”

The singer, who is currently working on a mixtape titled, ‘Adapted’, also noted that being an independent artiste without the support of a record label was quite challenging.

He said, “I am an independent artist and I have my own record label. I do all my production myself and I also have to direct my video shoots. That is quite overwhelming when one does it by oneself with the support of a small team. I pay for everything I do.”

On the changes he would like to see in his music career, he said, “I would like to see independent artistes getting more credit and support. I would also want a situation where there is more unity among artistes.”

Recalling the most remarkable moments in his career, Aayo said, “It is a struggle putting out projects. I remember that when shooting two of my videos, I had flat tyres.

“The single, ‘For Real’ is also important to me because I recorded it when I was expecting my first son.”

Reeling out his short-term and long-term plans for his career, the singer said, “My short-term goals include to continue making music and entertaining my fans. I am here to stay for the long haul.

“My long-term goal is to inspire people to do better. I also intend to give back to the underprivileged and create a non-profit organisation, as well as give people opportunities I never had.”
