Electricity Has Improved Under Buhari-led Administration - Presidential Aide, Bashir Ahmad Says After National Grid Collapse

Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad has stated that under his principal's administration, power has improved.

The Personal Assistant on Digital and New Media, said this following the collapse of the National Grid.

He said that the system collapse on the National Grid was caused by a weak transmission system that was inherited from the previous administration.

In a tweet, the Ahmad compared the national grid collapse Nigeria is experiencing now to what used to be the case.

He pointed out that Nigeria experienced 42 grid collapses in 2010, but experienced only four collapses in 2020.

Ahmad wrote: “When we’re ready to have this convo, we’ll know that the power sector has improved under this administration.

"Grid collapse is usually caused by a weak transmission system (inherited). Intensive work being done to fix that is obvious. We had 4 collapses in 2020, we recorded 42 in 2010."

The national grid collapsed on Monday morning, March 14,  and at about 5pm on Tuesday, March 15.
