2023: Tinubu Attacks Umahi, Orji Kalu, Others Over Presidential Ambition

Posted by Thandiubani on Thu 17th Mar, 2022 - tori.ng

The former Lagos governor said he had remained consistent in his political career and strengthening the ruling party, stressing that it is time to reap the fruit of his labour.

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu has called out some members of his party who are also interested in the number one position in the country.

Recall that Tinubu had months ago announced his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election.

Taking a swipe at other candidates in his party interested in the position, Tinubu said while the likes of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu and other presidential aspirants defected to the ruling party, he has remained in the ruling APC.

The APC national leader revealed this during a meeting with the party’s Senate and House Representatives Caucus at the National Assembly on Wednesday.

According to the former Lagos governor, he had remained consistent in his political career and strengthening the ruling party, stressing that it is time to reap the fruit of his labour.

Tinubu added that he is the most competent, most qualified to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, asking other aspirants to support his presidency.

He said, “I am not here to be defensive; I am here with humility to say that I am one of the best products that you can sell. No other one in the race, hiding or open. I am the only one in the race, hiding or open, that is most competent, most qualified to be your President, come Year 2023.

“First of all, I am the only one who has been through the tutelage, the turns and bends of the National Assembly. Where is that other person? None! I am the only one among them who has been consistently in one party to the other, building bridges. They are full of divorcees; they are not stable; some of them are rolling stones.

“I have been through the National Assembly. I have been in the corporate world with a background in public sector accounts, finance and development. Where will they start from?”
