While the Black Stars of Ghana were training at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Monday evening for the crucial second leg tie of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles, the stadium lights went off causing mixed reactions on social media.
The Ghanaians had arrived in Nigeria on Monday after playing out a goalless draw against the Super Eagles in Kumasi last Friday.
The team proceeded to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium led by the technical crew to wrap up preparations for the World Cup qualification decider.
To the surprise of the team, the floodlights in the stadium went off for a while, hampering the progress of the training.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has declared that all government offices will be shut from 1pm on Tuesday due to the game.
A statement signed by Ngozi Onwudiwe, permanent secretary, service welfare office, for head of the civil service of the federation said, “There is a need to mobilise support for the Nigerian Team. Consequently, I am directed to inform you that all offices will be closed at 1.00pm on Tuesday, 29 n March, 2022.
“Permanent Secretaries are requested to give this circular wide publicity to achieve the desired result.”
