According to a report by The Nation, as many as five persons including two Reverend Sisters were burnt to death in their two vehicles yesterday morning in Anambra State.
The accident happened about 7am along Awka-Enugu Expressway.
One of the Reverend Sisters was a principal of Girl’s Secondary School in the state, who along with one other Sister and driver, was going to bring food items for the school.
The Nation gathered that the incident involved two vehicles, a Toyota Highlander and Hiace bus with five persons on board.
The Nation further gathered that the bus driver was behind the Highlander when he suddenly lost control at top speed and rammed into the vehicle.
Both vehicles reportedly caught fire immediately.
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi attributed the crash to speeding.
He said the fire was out by officials of the State Fire Service.
He said, “A Toyota Highlander with registration number BMR570BE and a Toyota Hiace bus with no registration number were involved in a road traffic crash in the early hours of 13th April, 2022 at about 06:30hrs.
“According to an eyewitness report, the bus driver was speeding, lost control, and rammed into the Highlander from behind, crashed and both vehicles caught fire.
“Five people comprising two male adults and three female adults were involved in the crash.
“Five persons (two male adults, and three female adults) were burnt completely,” he said.
