Blackface

The Nigerian Music Industry was engulfed by series of social media drama recently by celebrities. Notable among the Twitter beefs was when singer, Blackface, publicly called out his friend, 2face Idibia (now 2baba) for copyright theft, back-biting and also threatened to sue him.

Augustine Obiabo popularly called Blackface also accused 2face of stealing the single ‘Let somebody love you’ featured on 2face’s “Ascension” album, and features international recording act, Bridget Kelly.

He wrote: "You singing #LetsomebodyLoveYou without telling me when you know its my song isn’t going down without the world knowing what you and you manager Efe been doing …am coming for una, don’t get it twisted #ItsGameOn," he wrote on Instagram.

In a chat with Life & Times, Blackface disclosed on why he attacked 2face Idbia punblicly on social media, stating that all he wanted from the iconic pop act was the proper acknowledgement for using his materials.

"2face feels I am someone you can trample upon. I am one person that has taught these guys how to be a good song writer and also taught them the rudiments of music. Yet, they will just see one as nothing.

I am not expecting anything from 2face but just simple credits. Just like when Kennis music signed him, they did 'African Queen' and I was not given credit and that took them time."

It was recalled that 2face Idibia, in his reaction, said it was unfortunate that Blackface went public with his allegations. "It is just so unfortunate. I do not know where it is coming from but I am trying to think of different reasons. At frst, I thought his account was hacked."

The duo were members of the defunct group, Plantashun Boiz.
