The PUNCH reports that several goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed in Lagos.
The goods were destroyed in a fire incident that occurred at Flux Logistics’ warehouse facility on Sapara Williams Street, off Oba Akran Avenue in the Ikeja area of Lagos on Sunday.
The fire was said to have started at about 9 am.
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, in a statement, said the fire involved finished distilled volatile chemical products made of ethanol and packed in combustible bottles.
“The contents stored within a large expanse warehouse block were securely locked making accessibility difficult to the seat of Fire thereby breaking-in tools were deployed to gain access.
“Furthermore, the intensity of the radiation resulting from the chemical compound materials gave way for sparse explosions before it was curtailed by Lagos Fire Crew from Ikeja, Alausa, Agege and Bolade while dampening down the remains of fire continues,” she said.
According to Adeseye, there was no casualty as the operation was in the mopping up stage.
She, however, said an investigation was ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
