Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Dabna community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The attack left three persons dead with property worth millions of naira destroyed.
Dabna is a village in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State sharing a boundary with Hawul Local Government Area in neighbouring Borno State.
According to an eyewitness, the attackers came on two motorbikes in the early hours of Monday, April 3, 2023, shooting sporadically.
Reacting to the development, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, directed the deployment of men for the immediate arrest of culprits.
The command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement, said investigations into the attack had commenced on the order of the commissioner.
"The CP warns that attacks on innocent souls would no longer be tolerated under whatsoever guise, as the command holds the lives of citizens sacrosanct, and such unwarranted attitude would be strictly treated in accordance with extant laws,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, in a statement signed by the Director of Information, Office of the SGF, Willie Bassey, on Monday, condemned the attack.
“The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, CFR, has condemned in strong terms the unwarranted attacks and killings in Dabna village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State by unknown gunmen,” the statement read.
"The repeated attacks have led to loss of lives, property and means of livelihood of the people of Dabna and surrounding communities, who are basically agrarian
"SGF commends the swift intervention of law enforcement agencies in containing the attack from spreading to other communities
“He condoles with the Government and people of Adamawa State, Dabna Community and families of those who lost their loved ones in the incident.”
