Two Muslim women aboard passenger jet have been handed the embarrassment of their lives after a flight attendant accused them of 'staring' too hard at her.

The women were ordered by police to leave the aircraft after the were reported by cabin crew

This is the shocking moment two Muslim women were escorted from a JetBlue passenger aircraft in LA after a member of cabin crew reported them for 'staring' and filming a safety briefing.

Fellow passengers recorded the incident which happened on a flight between Boston and Los Angeles on Saturday.

Despite their apparent concerns, the aircraft took off from Boston and landed in Los Angeles without incident. However, as soon as the aircraft came to a halt, police officers boarded the jet where the two women were singled out.

Officers told the women to retrieve their hand luggage before they were led away for questioning.

The video was posted on YouTube by Mark Frauenfelder who said his friend Sharon Kessler was onboard the Flight JB487 from Boston to Los Angeles.

Frauenfelder said is friend posted details of what happened on her Facebook account.

Kessler wrote: 'It was a terrible moment -- honestly -- these women sat quietly, watched movies -- it felt like overkill from this flight attendant.'

Frauenfelder spoke with his friend who said the flight attendant 'casually relayed to a coworker that she didn't appreciate being stared at - she did not seem rattled or scared - just smug. Then - after we landed - she announced that the authorities would be boarding the plane and to remain in our seats with seat belts.'

Kessler shot the short video which showed both women being escorted from the plane.

Outrage has trailed the entire event with many people condemning the flight attendant's move as being too extremist.

In a statement, JetBlue said one of the women appeared to be filming certain in-flight procedures which can present a security issue.

According to the airline: 'More than 35 million customers from many cultures and backgrounds travel on JetBlue without incident each year.

'Our crewmembers' first priority is the safe and secure operation of our flights, and as a security precaution, are asked to be aware of anyone who may be filming or taking photographs of inflight procedures or the flight deck area.

'If a crewmember believes a customer may be filming safety procedures, the crewmember may report it for further review.

'In this instance, our crewmembers acted in accordance with security procedures. We appreciate our customers’ patience and cooperation, and apologize for the inconvenience.'
