Abdulrazaq Lawal, the Secretary of the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), tendered his resignation on Tuesday, July 19.

Citing personal reasons, Lawal announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the leadership of the party in the state.

The state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Prince Tunji Moronfoye, disclosed yesterday in a statement that the party acknowledged the resignation.

He said, “We have been notified and received the resignation letter of Alhaji Razaq Lawal as the state secretary of the party. We all appreciate his services and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Naija News reports that the development comes barely a week after the party’s State Youth Leader, Prince Haliru Mahmoud Dantsoho, called out a former Senate President and former governor of the state, Bukola Saraki.

The youth leader, according to Daily Trust, had called out Saraki in a viral video on social media, asking him to account for campaign funds for the 2023 general election.

In the said video, Dantsoho said, “We are not fighting the leader, Saraki. But we want accountability and independence of the party.

“And the fundamental question is we want to know how much was received for the 2023 presidential election, who received the money, and how it was spent, that is all.”

Meanwhile, the Kwara PDP has set up a disciplinary committee to look into the action of its youth leader over his outburst against Saraki.

Dantsoho’s action has attracted much criticism and attacks from party leaders in the state, as the party, in a statement by Morounfoye, decried the youth leader’s unguarded outburst.

He said, “The State Working Committee (SWC) has set up a disciplinary committee to look into the youth leader’s actions and report back to the party within seven days.

“Party members will be notified of the outcome of the disciplinary committee’s findings and appropriate recommendations.”
