In a statement he signed, Powerful reminded the coalition that an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja had discharged and acquitted Kanu, hence Tinubu should order his release.
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has again urged President Bola Tinubu to release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The group said refusal to release Kanu will sink Nigeria.
IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, issued the warning in response to a call by the Coalition of Northern Group, CNG, urging President Bola Tinubu not to release Kanu.
Powerful described the Northern coalition as clueless for urging Tinubu not to release Kanu.
In a statement he signed, Powerful reminded the coalition that an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja had discharged and acquitted Kanu, hence Tinubu should order his release.
He urged Tinubu to act on the advice of Nigerians asking him to release the IPOB leader in the interest of Nigeria.
He charged the group to steer clear of Kanu’s illegal and unconstitutional detention “or we will shred what is left of their relevance.”
According to Powerful: “The herdsmen Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) that are advising the Nigerian President to allow the law to run its course are so clueless that they didn’t realize that the Appeal Court of Nigeria in Abuja has already discharged and acquitted Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“The Nigeria government is in violation of both local and international laws.
“IPOB, as a lawful and peaceful movement, will legally sink Nigeria locally and internationally if they refuse to be a democratic country and release our leader, and call for a United Nation’s supervised referendum.
“The earlier this government takes the advice from reasonable people around the world and release Kanu unconditionally and pay him the compensation as the Abuja Court of Appeal and Umuahia High Court ruled, the better for everyone. The continuous illegal detention of Mazi Nnamdi KANU as the Coalition of Northern Bandits desires will sink Nigeria and all its beneficiaries.”
