There was a meeting on Sunday, August 3, between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governors sharing boundaries with Niger Republic, where the democratically elected President was ousted by the military.
Governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe, Katsina, and Jigawa, attended the meeting which was held at the presidential villa in Abuja.
Though what was discussed during the meeting is not known at the moment, it is speculated to be part of the wider consultations by the president on the political instability in Niger.
It also coincided with the deadline from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the Nigerien military to reinstate deposed President Mohamed Bazoum.
