The former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) made the call in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday.
President Bola Tinubu has been urged to reverse the confirmation of former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, as minister.
The call was made by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze.
The former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) made the call in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday.
According to him, the nomination of Wike as minister by President Bola Tinubu and the screening and confirmation by the Senate “is an affront to decency, as facts on him do not qualify him as a character that merits such an office.”
Eze described the alleged refusal of the President to pay heed to “reports and fact-filled opinions on the non-qualification of the former governor to hold public office in the country” as a disappointment.
He alleged that the European Union Election Observation Report for the 2023 election had singled out the former governor for indictment over his activities in the February and March elections.
“Such imposition at a time the country is struggling to redeem her electorally battered image and reclaim credibility within the international community is, to say the least, ridiculous,” he added.
