Recall that there was speculations that the trio is planning a coalition as a joint opposition to fight the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC)—a rumour the Labour Party has denied.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has warned Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), not to associate himself with his counterparts in Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of  Ohanaeze spoke following rumours of an alleged merger.

The group, in a statement issued by its Secretary General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, in Abakaliki, said his association with President Bola Tinubu would be more profitable than the current path he is taking.

However, reacting to the issue, the group said, “There is possibility of collapse in their talks because Nigerians will not accept Atiku or Kwankwaso as leaders of an alliance. Nigerians know that the uncharitable disposition and desperation of Atiku Abubakar will never allow him to support Peter Obi to become leader of the opposition.

“The ill-fated journey of Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso will crumble in the future. Nigerians are warning the presidential candidate of LP to be wary of failed politicians, whose interest is looking for a way to exploit the credibility and popularity of Obi to see how to depose President Bola Tinubu.

“Nigerians are keenly watching the latest attempt of drowning politicians to use Obi to wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the future. The indelible stain of such alliance talks, among Atiku, Kwankwaso, and Obi, will destroy Peter Obi if he, Obi, decides to play second fiddle.

“Ohanaeze cautions Obi that association with Atiku and Kwankwaso will destroy him, except if the two support him to lead a unified opposition political party, which is unlikely.

“Peter Obi should work alongside Tinubu than the duo of Atiku and Kwankwaso, or stand independently. Peter Obi will lose the support from Nigerians if he plays second fiddle in the future. Ndigbo urges him to pull out of the alliance talks.”
